The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) invites proposals for presentations at its 38th Annual Conference. The conference will be held at Université de Sherbrooke and the Preconference Workshop will be held at Bishop’s University, Sherbrooke, Québec June 19-22, 2018

Downtown Sherbrooke

A friendly, dynamic city, where Canada’s two official languages come together, Sherbrooke is a friendly city located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Abenaki people and the Wabenaki confederacy, has more than 160,000 citizens and is the 6th largest city in Québec. Located amid hills, valleys and plateaus, it is situated in the southern part of Québec, 150 km from Montréal, 220 km from Québec City, and some 40 km from the American border.

While notably different in terms of size and scope of program offerings, your institutional co-hosts, Université de Sherbrooke and Bishop’s University, share a number of common goals and have developed a tradition of working together for the benefit of our multicutural community. Along with our partners from the college sector, Champlain College Lennoxville and Cégep de Sherbrooke, we look forward to welcoming you to our campus to engage in questions around our conference theme - Pedagogical Innovation: Adapting Practice to Evolving Cultures.

Ongoing changes in a variety of cultures - institutional, societal, educational, technological – are prompting educators to redefine their practice. These changes are encouraging us to conceive of teaching and learning in higher education in new ways, and causing us to choose alternate pedagogical practices, experiment with new ideas, and create innovative learning opportunities. The questions arising from the necessity to address these changing cultures are complex and provocative.
